Life Skills Therapy

What is a Life Skills Therapist?

A Life Skills Therapist promotes a well-balanced and healthy lifestyle by:

bulletteaching individuals how to care for their immediate needs,
bulletpreparing individuals to care for themselves on a long-term basis,
bulletencouraging individuals to remain active through participation in various activities and hobbies, and
bulleteducating individuals, as well as the community, about mental illness.

How Will The Life Skills Therapy Program Work?

Prairie Harvest Foundation clients will be referred to the Therapist for Life Skills Therapy. Once they are referred the Therapist will determine what assessments need to take place. Based upon those assessments, the Therapist will plan a program with the help of the client. For example, the client and Therapist might conclude that they need to work on their laundry skills as well as developing a hobby. That client’s program would focus on those needs.
